Inaccurate reporting

Inaccurate reporting

We have several cluster servers in our environment. We have tried running reports on these cluster servers to determine disk space requirements. However, the reports are inaccurate. Some of the reports shows that the server has more drive mappings than are actually identified from the system console. These are Windows OS based systems. Anyone know how to correct this or what is causing it so that it can be corrected. Thanks.

Re: Inaccurate reporting

Follow the chain. HP SIM gets its information from the agents. It doesn't generate any data itself. What do the agents reflect? If the agents are right and HP SIM is wrong, remember that the data collecion task by default runs only every 2 weeks. For up-to-date data, consider running the task manually prior to your reports.

Re: Inaccurate reporting

Where exactly does Insight Manager pick up the information about Logical Disk Drives, because I have checked the Insight Manager agents of one server, which is showing in the SIM Report as having 4 drives, while Insight Manager only shows 3 drives. This problem exists for several servers in the SIM report.

I have also checked in Windows Disk Manager, which shows 3 drives. By the way, I am using HP SAN Storage solution, and the servers in question originally were set up with the 4 drives. However, the 4 drive, which was a temperary set up were removed well before the SIM server was set up and the Inventory done.

Re: Inaccurate reporting

If HP SIM is still showing a previous configuration that has since changed, the Bi-Weekly Data Collection task has probably not run to incorporate the update. Consider running it manually (Logs --> All Scheduled Tasks) and/or changing the frequency of when it runs. Use your judgement on how dynamic your environment is to guide you. Everyday is probably overkill for most people.
