Insight Management Agent Prerequisites?

I'm trying to install the 7.1 agents on a DL380 G3 and keep getting the error:
"Command Line Parameters Given: /force /silent
Name: HP Insight Management Agents for Windows 2000/Server 2003
New Version: 7.10.0.0

Beginning Silent Session...

The software is not supported for installation on this system.

The installation program couldn't find the appropriate system management
controller driver which is required but is not currently installed. Please
install the appropriate system management controller driver and then rerun
the setup program.

Installation will not continue.
The operation was not successful."

I've successfully installed the following:
"HP ProLiant System Management Controller Driver for Windows 2000/Server 2003 version 5.32.2195.0"
"HP ProLiant Advanced System Management Controller Driver for Windows Server 2003 version 5.33.3790.0"

Knowing that those two management controller drivers are installed, I'm not seeing a reasong that the agent install should fail.

Any ideas? Anyone know what the SPECIFIC prerequisites are?

I'm trying to avoid installing the entire PSP because of the NIC and other driver installs that will interrupt service to the box (already in production).

Thanks!

Re: Insight Management Agent Prerequisites?

Greetings. It looks like you have the driver installed and working. You may also have to reboot the system to take effect also or you can try to stop and then restart SNMP and try the agents install again.
There may be another item that you have to install also but I am not sure. I would suggest that you download the entire support paq, configure the support paq with you passwords, IM7 servers, etc for the items that can be configured (web agents, version control agent, etc) then run the HP Remote Instalation Utility (not command line) but the SETUP.exe that launches the GUI version. Then it will detect what is installed on the server. At that point you can deselect the NIC drivers and Teaming utilites and go from there. it should then install all but whatt is not selected..

Hope this helps

Re: Insight Management Agent Prerequisites?

You are seeing this error because you don't have the correct system management driver installed. You need the following driver:

For Windows 2000: HP ProLiant iLO Advanced and Enhanced System Management Controller Driver for Windows 2000 (cp004193.exe)

For Windows Server 2003: HP ProLiant iLO Advanced and Enhanced System Management Controller Driver for Windows Server 2003 (cp004201.exe)

Hope this helps.

Tom, same error afterwards.

Thanks for the thought.

Re: Insight Management Agent Prerequisites?

It is HP recommended practise that the entire Softpaq be installed. This is a tested bundle of components.

And the dependencies this release may be different from the next. After all there's no way of knowing what the base of some of the software is.

The Driver updates that seem to be required will require a reboot of the Server. So you're better of scheduling an outage and doing the entire softpaq.

Re: Insight Management Agent Prerequisites?

I agree that it would be ideal to be able to run the whole softpaq, but this isn't something I'm going to be able to schedule an outage for. I can potentially include the PSP install in another outage, but that's not going to be for another couple of weeks.

I'm gathering from the responses and from the other similar threads that there isn't a specific list of the prerequisites that someone has. Maybe the HP engineers who developed it know, but they seem to be keeping mum.
