Insight Manager 7 SP2 and Java version 1.4

Does Insight Manager 7 SP2 support running on Java 1.4.2? I need this version of Java to run successfully on my HPOpenview console without trashing my dynamic views within Openview which only uses 1.4.x.

Insight Manager 7 enforces a specific JRE version in each release. The last and final version was IM7 SP2.3 and that uses and enforces the use of 1.3.1_09. No other version can be used.

Please also note that IM7 is now end-of-life and has been replaced by HP Systems Insight Manager 4.1 which includes a data migration tool for current IM7 users.

You have 2 options:

To continue to use IM7 for the time being and have 1.3.1_09 co-exist with your other JRE version on the same system, open the Control Panel applet and uncheck the browser check mark for Internet Explorer. Your browser will then load the appropriate JRE for each application that requests it.

Otherwise, consider upgrading to HP Systems Insight Manager (no charge). HP SIM has decreased dramatically its use of Java in favor of JavaScript (which doens't use a JRE) and because of that it is not as dependent upon specific versions. HP SIM works with JREs 1.4.1_04 or greater.

Once again thanks, I am currently migrating to a new hardware platform so I will probably remain at 7 SP2 with intentions to upgrade to 4 in the next month or so.
