Install Error

Install Error

I am installing the Insight Manager from the CD that came with our new ProLiant DL380 server. The SQL desktop agent (MSDE) was installed on the same machine and is running. However, when I get to the part of the install where it asks me for the Account Credentials, I enter the correct credentials (I am part of the domain admins) and get the following error message - "HP Systems Insight Manager was unable to create the HP Systems Insight Manager database". I have rebooted and tried uninstalling / re-installing the MSDE. Any suggestions for help?

Re: Install Error

Why not uninstall MSDE and then let the HPSIM install it if it is not being used.

I'm not sure if MSDE supports windows authentication (an MSDE guru can comment here) but you may need to enter the MSDE sa account and password.

Re: Install Error

I had a similar problem. I have no idea what caused it, but I tried allowing HPSIM to install MSDE on my behalf - and still no go. I eventually got around it by uninstalling SIM and associated components (SSL etc.) and installing MSDE from the command line prior to reinstalling SIM.

When you run the MSDE install from the command line, you will need to set a System Administrator password or it will complain.Use:

setup sapwd=â MyPasswordGoesHereâ

Hope this
