Integrated Log Events

Is there way to get the SIM agents to report an "error" in the interated log? I have had an integrated log show a correctable memory error, but I was not notified through SIM.

Thanks!

Re: Integrated Log Events

Do you have SNMP trap destinations set so the agents can send a message to hpSIM? Otherwise, hpSIM is only able to do status polling.

Re: Integrated Log Events

I do have the SNMP agents set to send traps to my SIM server and one other server.

One more thing, I am getting all of the others notifications through SIM. It is just the int. log that seem to not be generating a notification.

Re: Integrated Log Events

If I remember properly, there are 2 ways that things get into the IML: either during POST or after boot by the health driver.

If it happens during POST, when the agents come up, they don't try to trap on things in the IML because there is no way to track whether or not it's been alerted on in the past.

If it was placed there by the health driver, that's where the agents get all of their environmentals, too. If that's the source, you should see an entry in the NT event log also.

Is it possible you have down-rev agents with a newer health driver and the agents don't understand?

Re: Integrated Log Events

I am not sure. I have installed PSP 7.00a on the servers that I am monitoring in SIM. I believe that all of my agents are up to date via the PSP install.

Re: Integrated Log Events

I am using the latest agents.

An example would be that the following message was in the integrated log, but sent no alerts via SIM.

POST Error: A Critical Error occurred prior to this power-up.
