Intermittant poor performance from SIM 5.2 Management console
Hello,
We recently have installed SIM 5.2. It's actually onto a Windows 2003 SP2 VM on our ESX 3.0.2 environment, with the database bein g the built in SQL 2005 Express running on the same 2003 server.
Been having annoying intermittant performance issues in the management console since day 1. Basically, the console will be running fine, then (apparently) randomly, when you click on a collection or any other random option, it appears to hang for around 30-45 seconds, before resuming normal service (without generation of any error messages). During the 'hang' or whatever you want to call it, IE will display an 'opening page....' in the status bar. CPU and memory utilisation on the client and also the SIM server are both absolutely fine, effectively it looks like SIM is doing nothing at all. Then everything kicks into life and the link I clicked on is displayed. Tried a few different things, increasing the CPU and memory on the VM (from 1 CPU to 2, then 4 followed by 1GB RAM to 2, then 4) make no difference at all. Tried some client changes, e.g JRE version, using Firefox instead, accessing SIM from the 2003 server console. No joy. I can't trace the problem at all. I added those MX_JOB statements to the mx.properties as mentioned in other posts, but no difference. We are only monitoring 161 systems, so it's hardly a high end installation.
I was trying to demo SIM to one of our helpdesk guys yesterday and the hang occurred 4 or 5 times during a 15 minute period. Very frustrating.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks.
