Java Version Compatibility Problems
I have a couple of servers, which run a Java based application and that application requires JRE SEv1.4.1_05. It is my understanding that IM requires JRE 1.4.2_04. I have installed the 7.30 IM agents on these systems and I can send SNMP traps successfully to the IM console from those agents.
I cannot get the IM homepage to display properly. None of the select boxes for the system components appear on the home page.
Is it possible to have two different versions of Java on one system and have each Java based application use the version it requires? Or is there some other recommended method of resolving this?
Thanks
Mike

Re: Java Version Compatibility Problems
Yes you can have two versions of the JRE.
When you install the JRE, select Custom and uncheck the Integrate button.
In IE, you'll need to look under advanced options and see that the "Use Sun Java (or similar) is not checked. That lets the application select the JRE.
But, HPSIM should work with the older JRE. Note the JRE is client based, so the JRE gets installed on your workstation. The Java apps on the Server should not be involved.
You don't really need the JRE for displaying the Home Page unless you start plaing with the thresholds. Again, you can browse to those Servers from your workstation.

Re: Java Version Compatibility Problems
I have noticed that the new version of Java works much better and as mentioned by the other guy the thresholds appear only when using version 1.5.x
Thx

Re: Java Version Compatibility Problems
The threshold sliders display with the 1.4 versions of the JRE.
Why do you think they only work with 1.5?
