Limited User cannot clear events
We use Insight Manager in combination with several other enterprise monitoring applications. I have a 24 x 7 NOC that needs to monitor the Insight Manager web page - and be able to "clear" and/or "assign" events as they are received.
This was not a problem in IM7 2.3. However, with my recent upgrade to SIM4.1, I am unable to do so.
There's 3 types of users - full, limited, and none in SIM. Then of those 3 types, you can limit them to certain tools in the toolbox, and then limit them to certain hosts in the authorizations.
But, regardless of what combination of tools I pick, the "clear, delete, assign, comment" items at the bottom of an event query do not show as "clickable" unless the user is a "FULL" user.
Does anyone have any idea how to create what I'm looking for?
I need a user who basically just "monitors" the system - when an alert comes in - he picks up the phone, calls a sysadmin, and then clears the alert. Done. I don't want to give him any more tools than he needs, and I don't want him being able to get access to any of the configuration screens.
Help!
(I have an open case with HP on this too - but I'm putting the call out to the user community as well).

Re: Limited User cannot clear events
You are correct and it is by design. However, this is not the first time this has been requested, so it is under evaluation for a future version.

Re: Limited User cannot clear events
Hi All,
In the meantime SIM is upgraded from 4.1 to 4.2 SP1, but I still can't find a way to accomplish this.
John, did you find a solution for your problem yet? I can't seem to find any...
Hope somebody can help me with this...
