Many problems with HP SIM

I've installed HP SIM but i already have many problems :

1) As you can see on the screen capture (top part), all software version status are marked with an i. Here is the error message when i click on the i :

"Version Control Agent Trust Relationship Problem

Be sure that a trust relationship exists between the HP Systems Insight Manager and Version Control Agent on the target system.

Consult the help for more information about setting up a trust relationship."

I've tried all what's written in the help (Trust by cert, Trust by name and Trust all). The problem it's still remaining. If i go an each servers, the version control works fine.

2) We have 5 MSCS clusters detected by SIM but all their status are unknown (screen capture lower part). On the servers, the insight manager gives all the cluster details, but there's nothing in the SIM console.

Do you have any clue to solve these 2 problems ?

Regards

Teo

Re: Many problems with HP SIM

Have you tried configuring the vcagent directly on the machine. From the Device Homepage, their is a link on the left that says Version Control Agent. In the options tab for that window, there is a setup to communicate with th VC repository. Once you have set that up, it gives you the option ot set a reference support pack. I would recommend doing so. This should fix that little bit.

Also, If you can do it, I would recommend going back into the Device Homepage/Options/HTTP Server/Options and setting to Trust by Cert, as this is the most secure config. What this does is allow SIM to install new software and or make changes to the configuration on your behalf. One of the perks of centralized administration. Let us know if this helps your situation.

Re: Many problems with HP SIM

Hi Teo,

Can't help with the clusters, I'm afraid!

As far as your trust relationship problem goes, have you:

1. On the CMS, got a certificate corresponding to the FQDN of that server?

2. Imported the certificate into each of the servers you are managing (System Home page -> Settings -> HTTP Server Options -> Get Cert)?

I must admit that I went for certificate-based trust because nothing else seemed to work! We have a slightly different DDNS/DHCP setup here, so that probably doesn't help.
