Monitoring Services
I was wondering if anyone has setup monitoring of services on a device, in particular SQL, and the steps they took to do this.

Re: Monitoring Services
as i know this is not possible using SIM. SIM has limited monitoring oportunities. Here you can use OpenView Operations ( www.openview.hp.com).
Another Idea could be to make a script and send an SNMP Trap if a service Stops (Maybe there is a MIB for SQL who can do this for you)...
regards
Maurice

Re: Monitoring Services
Hi,
you can at least monitor processes via the Insight Agents if you open the control panel -> Insight Agents.
The agents will send an SNMP trap if the process is stopped or started or as you define it.
This would only help for very simple services and can not replace a real service monitoring system (for example if the data file of you SQL server is completely full and an autoexpand is not possible).
