Need Alarm List for Documentation

I have an earlier version of Insight Manager (okay, waaay earlier :-)) and I plan to migrate to SIM.

One of the features I haven't seen is a formatted list of default alarms available. I'm envisioning the ability to fully document my alarm choices and actions to be taken so we can provide it to the auditors.

Does SIM have this ability? Is there a white paper or TID that has it?

HP SIM is a RECEIVER of events that are sent to it. If you have ProLiant Servers running Windows, there is a document "Microsoft Windows Event ID and SNMP Traps Reference Guide" at http://h200001.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00293379/c00293379.pdf

Re: Need Alarm List for Documentation

Thanks David, I've downloaded the doc and will peruse it.

On earlier versions of Compaq Insight Manager you would open the alerting area and set actions on categories of alerts. The categories and alerts weren't presented in terms of NT events - maybe more like an HP version of alerts like failing disks or downed servers.

Is there a corresponding list of HP alerts for SIM, or only the NT events pertaining to HP components?

Yes, there is. If you are running or testing HP SIM4.2 SP2, you can go to Options--> Events --> SNMP Trap settings.

In Automatic Event Handling, you can select the "Event Category" in the event handling and you can specify the Event you need to set.

Just make sure that MIBs are also loaded for other Event Handling that you needed to.

Hope this would be somewhat informative.
