OpenSSH - Initial Connect Failure, Never Successful Again

In the past, I've had many, many problems with OpenSSH. So many now, that I felt I knew exactly how to fix every single problem with it on Windows - until now.

My scenario is that I'm using a renamed local administrator account to install SSH. Typically the first thing I do is edit the passwd file and change the home directory to the profile of the renamed administrator account. The next step is to run mxagentconfig, which works 100% of the time if I perform the steps in this *EXACT* order.

However I've flaked out several times where I attempt to run mxagentconfig *BEFORE* editing the passwd file. When this happens, the mxagentconfig obviously fails. But the strange thing is that I am NEVER able to get the connection to work again. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling SSH (including removing the directories and any .ssh folders on the target server). And I've removed any references to the server in the known_hosts file on the SIM server passwd file.

Wondering if anyone else has run into this.

Just in case you're interested, I've got an open case with HP that has now been escalated. I am positive this is a bug, and will keep you informed. Keep ckecking back on this thread!

Seems to be similar to what I am running into...(I uninstalled and reinstalled OpenSSH completely on my HPSIM server, deleted and recreated all keys and known-hosts file, but mxagentconfig still failing to connect to HPSIM server itself !!)

HP is still chewing on this. They were able to re-create, but haven't found a workaround yet. Should have an update tomorrow.

No, there is no resolution yet. I have actually shipped them a drive with the OS of a test server which can reproduce the problem. But they have not yet been able to resolve.

I hope they get to it quick as I'd like to move to 4.2...
