Parent - Child Relationships
Hello,
I need to know the details of the possible 'drill-down' parent to child relationship capabilities of HP SIM4.1.
Is it a fairly flat structure (i.e. cluster, node, attributes) or is a deeper 'tree like' relationship structure possible?
Any info. greatly appreciated!

Re: Parent - Child Relationships
Can you provide more detail about what you're trying to accomplish?

Re: Parent - Child Relationships
I am looking at HP SIM as an autodiscovery tool for configuration management. I am currently attempting to establish whether HP SIM will allow detailed parent/child relationships to be established between different components e.g. within a node.
For example, would HP SIM enable me to record the hierarchical relationship between a system, a server and server components such as HDDs and CPUs and will it show the relationship between all of these components or will the HDD and CPU information be displayed as attributes of the node?

Re: Parent - Child Relationships
Ben:
I'm sorry but I'm still not following you. How do you consider a "system" as different from a "server" ? How is that different from a "node" in your mind?
hpSIM depends on the ProLiant Insight agents to discover a server and those agents report on all the components installed.
Since it's a free download, why don't you try it out and see if it meets your needs?
