Perfomance Management Pack Stopped Working

I had loaded the PMP on my CMS server and all seemed to be fine. I was able to go under options and use the Configuration and licensing selections.

I added a new HP DL380 server to my System list and went to configure it for the PMP.

Now when I try to use those selections under Options it gives a error saying "Authorization Required".

Any Ideas?

Re: Perfomance Management Pack Stopped Working

The session is starting up as an Anonymous USer. I had this and I think it was to do with the Local or Anonymous Settings.
What version of HPSIM as I had this problem with the new HPSIM 4.2.
On the HPSIM Server I have Anonymous Checked but not the Local User.

Running 4.2. Not sure where you mean for anonymous or local user.

Re: Perfomance Management Pack Stopped Working

Go to the Agent Management Page of the HPSIM Server itself and go to the Settings.
Look at the Anonymous and Local Access settings.
If you fire up the License or Configuration screen for PMP, the User it's running as should be displayed at the top right corner.

Re: Perfomance Management Pack Stopped Working

I don't see the agent mgmt page.

Nor do I see the user it is trying to use whenm launchin the license or config for PM.

I'm fairly new to SIM.

I did go to the security page under settings
on the homepage. I changed a settign or two and retried. but still does the same.

Re: Perfomance Management Pack Stopped Working

when I select the sys mgmt homepage link under the "No Authorization" it says at the topright corner user: hpsmh_local_administrator

I assume this is what PMP is tring to use that fails. How do I correct this?

Re: Perfomance Management Pack Stopped Working

OK, from the Options in HPSIM bring up the Performance Management Pack Options -> Configuration Screen.
At the top right, mine has Current User: Administrator. What does yours show?

From HPSIM, click on the HW Icon for the Server HPSIM is installed on. Again check what the Current User is as this will now be using the new System Management Homepage.

Go to Settings, the Security, then Local / Anonymous Access.
I've got Anonymous checked and Local Access Unchecked.

Re: Perfomance Management Pack Stopped Working

Mine does not shhow the user name.

just a banner saying ERROR
underneath "Authorization Required"

There is a link to the SM Homepage underneath.

I go to that and at the top right it says: hpsmh_anonymous for user.

Underneath that is a login link.

I changed my security settings to match yours.
Saved. Logged out then tried again.

Same thing.

Re: Perfomance Management Pack Stopped Working

I do get an error logged in the homepage log:

WARNING LOG (severity=1) Wed Jan 12 20:41:53 2005

Re: Perfomance Management Pack Stopped Working

Hello All,

I have the same problem.
When I click the PF-Icon in HPSIM, I get
the error message "Authorization Required"
I tried all variations for
'Settings/Security/Local/AnonymousAccess'
Nothing worked, when I click the "Return to System Management Homepage" under the error-message the Current User is one of the following :
hpsmh_local_administrator
hpsmh_anonymous
hpsmh_local_anonymous

When I click the HW-, SW-Icon or the Server-Name the Current User is Administrator or Server\Administrator.

It worked before I tried-out security-settings (no idea what!).
Who can help ?
thanks Jo

Re: Perfomance Management Pack Stopped Working

I ran into the same problem. Not sure if this solution will work for you.

I went into the Windows 2003 Services. The HP Performance Management Pack service was set to Automatic with my domain\my logon startup account. However, the service would not start (logon failure).
I changed the account to the domain's Adminsitrator account, set the password and started the service. I was able to start the service and get in to the Licensing Console. Worked fine after that.
No matter where you go, there you are....

Re: Perfomance Management Pack Stopped Working

Greg,
I ran into the same issue and noticed in the smh (= system management homepage) log those corresponding entries:

WARNING LOG (severity=1) Tue Mar 15 20:27:49 2005
Single Sign On for User:dl560hpsim\administrator from 192.168.0.9 was DENIED access to System Management Homepage using restricted WebApp rights of 'none' to invoke target URL=https://dl560hpsim:2381/PMP/IMPF.htm?deviceKey=1&deviceName=dl560hpsim&deviceSerialNumber=......

I think the last action I did before the symptom occured was to force an installation of psp 7.20 but my memory might be tricking me here.

Anyhow, I rebooted the system (since the pmp installation and user guide describes some scenarios where the web-server might crash and subsequently show similar symptoms which can be solved by restarting a number of services...) and voila the system now grants access to the pmp pages.

Hope this helps?
Cheers

Re: Perfomance Management Pack Stopped Working

Same issue, are we seeing a trend here?? I recently installed the 4.2 sp1 for SIM and updated to 7.2 SP on the SIM server itself. Also, no matter how I change the Local Access Anonymous Access settings I get the same thing. ERROR - Authorization Required. Someone from HP needs to address this issue!

Re: Perfomance Management Pack Stopped Working

I had the same problem also, i changed the properties of the service ( HP performance management pack and HP pmp tools) to use the localsystem as user and not my admin account, they started after doing this and after this i was able to start the performance management pack in HP SIM.

Re: Perfomance Management Pack Stopped Working

Tried changing the user account to LocalSystem, no change. The service was running ok with the original service account anyway. Any other ideas?
