Performance Managenent Pack

According to the HP SIM documentation the PMP reporting info is available within SIM by selecting Reports>Performance Management Pack Reports>Static Analysis Report from the console toolbar. However from the Reports menu all I can see is Manage Reports, New Reports and Snapshot Comparison. Why is this report not available? PMP is supposed to automatically be installed with SIM. I am running the latest version of SIM.

Thanks

Re: Performance Managenent Pack

Do you see the PMP Options listed under Options--> Performance Management Pack Options?

If not then the PMP menu items did not get properly installed. To install them.
-------------

After a PMP installation, the PMP menu options might not appear on the HP Systems
Insight Manager console. Manually add the PMP menu options by performing one
of the following:

- From the command line, enter: mxtool -a -f â :
\Performance Management Pack 3\ToolsMenu\PMPTools.xmlâ

- Copy PMPTools.xml from :\Performance
Management Pack 3\ToolsMenu to :\System
Insight Manager\Setup

Then, restart HP System Insight Manager Ser

Re: Performance Managenent Pack

Thanks very much for that info. The PMP options have now installed correctly. Interestingly enough I could actually get into the Admin and Licensing options before the install by clicking on the ? next to any server under the PF column in the system list.

I have one more question - You can change the "Samples" variable within Admin but the "Sample rate" is fixed at 0 and I can't see how to change it for any servers.

Thanks

Re: Performance Managenent Pack

To set the data collection interval for a server you must go to the servers System Management Home Page --> Settings --> SNMP Options --> Management Agents. There you will see a dropdown box allowing you to select the "Data Collection Interval" for that server.

Re: Performance Managenent Pack

Thanks, although the data collection interval for all servers I have checked is 2 minutes and this Sample Rate column still says 0 on all 3 servers I have licensed. When I select the 'System Summary Report' it says no records found. Within the 'All scheduled tasks' list I have run the 'Bi weekly data collection' task manually. I presume this is what collects the data???

Re: Performance Managenent Pack

NO, actually it is the PMP software that collects the samples from the licensed servers during every data collection interval which by default is 2 minutes.

If you look at the PMP Monitoring Administration page what is in the PF column? A green check mark indicates a good PMP status. A status by default should be available 10 minutes after the server is licensed 5 samples x 120 seconds/sample

You might want to check your SNMP configuration on the licensed servers and confirm it matches your configuration in SIM.

Re: Performance Managenent Pack

There are ? charavters and when I click on them I seem the message:-

The Unknown status in your Performance (PF) column indicates that the monitoring has been started but there has been insufficient data gathered to report on device performance

Re: Performance Managenent Pack

I should have said SNMP is definitely configured correctly on all servers. I had other issues on some servers which resulted in the SNMP info being corrected.

Re: Performance Managenent Pack

I assume that on the PMP Monitoring Administration page the monitoring status = started.

I am not sure why PMP is unable to access the server agents to determine the data collection interval and to collect the sample data.

You might want to open a support case with your local support center.

Re: Performance Managenent Pack

Yes the Monitor Status is Started. I have logged a call with HP to resolve the issue, but if anyone else has any idea then please let me know.

Thanks

Re: Performance Managenent Pack

The only reports of "sample rate stuck at 0" I could find were fixed by rebooting the CMS. I am sure you have already tried that?

Re: Performance Managenent Pack

Yes the CMS has been rebooted.

I am wondering whether the PMP install I did this morning hasn't gone on quite correct. Might be worth trying to install it again.

Re: Performance Managenent Pack

A further reboot of the CMS actually fixed this in the end.
