Ping failure alerts
Can HPSIM monitor ping failure on server(s) and send out alerts via email or pager? If possible, how do I set up the task for that?

Re: Ping failure alerts
If you look at Logs --> All Scheduled Tasks --> Hardware Status Polling for Servers, you'll see that you can select the protocols HP SIM uses to poll with. By default all of the options (DMI, HTTP, Ping, SNMP) are checked, although HP SIM only attempts to use the protocols it has identified as being in use on a device, most commonly Ping and SNMP when it comes to a ProLiant with the PSP.
It's possible that a unit could respond to a ping but fail the SNMP poll, but a ping fail presumably would also fail SNMP. The result of a ping failure then would be an event of the type "System is unreachable" for you to base the Automatic Event Handling task on.

Re: Ping failure alerts
It pretty much does that by default. If you discover a system, then SIM will send an alert if the address become unpingable. Setup the email piece under Options>Events>Automatic event handling>email settings.
