PMP Fails to start after SQL Server update
There's a similar thread in the Performance Forum, but I know this forum is more active - so here goes.
I had PMP 4.0.1 working fine with HPSIM 5.0 SP4. Last night we updated SQLServer 2000 from SP3 to SP4.
Since then PMP will not start. Creating the pmplog.txt file I get;
2006-02-16 09:25:58: entered main
2006-02-16 09:25:58: Service Started
2006-02-16 09:26:03: ELM HTTP Server started
2006-02-16 09:26:03: After starting ELM, handle value of ELM is -> 00C800A8
Is there a fix? Anything I need to do?
I'm not too keen on removing all of PMP as we had collected some performance data for a few Servers. It would be a shame to lose it.
I tried just rerunning the pmp401.exe install but it just reports it is already installed and exits - so there's no repair option.

Re: PMP Fails to start after SQL Server update
Are there any associated Windows or SQL events being generated too or does it just appear to be the PMP?

Re: PMP Fails to start after SQL Server update
No events other than the Unexpected Termination event for PMP.
What I see from the SQL Manager is a single attach to the PMP Database. This seems to be active as the last TSQL Statement changes.
Also tried killing this process but nothing happened.
Albert,
No it's a bit more serious than that. The Service will not start no matter which Admin tool I use. Services, Hyena etc.

Re: PMP Fails to start after SQL Server update
Took the database offline and then online, but I still get the same failure.
Looks like a delete of PMP, plus removal of the databases and a reinstall.

Re: PMP Fails to start after SQL Server update
PMP worked ok after install but after a failed attempt to install VPM, and reboot, PMP service stops and will not restart.
log attached
Thanks

Re: PMP Fails to start after SQL Server update
Not too sure why this works. If you already have the latest version you can force a reinstall.

Re: PMP Fails to start after SQL Server update
PMP Updates fail seem to remove the database but not the files and then fail on the install of the updated version and the one described above where an update of the SMH on the HPSI Server seemed to fix things.
