PostgreSQL, mxinitconfig on RedHat 3.0

Hello,

We are having problems initialising SIM on our AS installation of Enterprise Server. Everything installed OK but on running mxinitconfig the following is noted in the logs and the program exits with code 209:

8. Database Configuration
HP Systems Insight Manager shutting down: Lost connection to database. A connect
ion error has occurred: FATAL: Password authentication failed for user "mxadmin
"
for db loaded from database.props


Can anyone help identify what our problem may be?
