I want to install Insight Manager on my HP 360DL but during the installation of the SQL server the setup is hanging when "performing initial database population" I'm using Windows 2003 standard edition. Does anybody know how to solve this?
The reason I asked is because the typical cause of that hang during SIM installation is when trying to install SIM using an existing SQL 2000 server which had been created using a non default collation sequence.
When the install hangs before you abort it you might look in the C:\Program Files\HP\Systems Insight Manager\logs directory to see what the actual error was.
Also MSDE creates a detailed log during installation which can be found at c:\msde.log
I've found the logfile msde.log and anything seems to be ok. On the server is also installed the oracle enterprise manager with a small oracle database for the data from the enterprise manager self. Can that cause the problem?
Have you checked your regional settings for your login, if it has anything to do with the collation?! MSDE probably select from your regional settings during setup. Maybe...
I've checked the regional settings and they are ok. I've tried again to install insight manager and during the install I checked the logfile. This is the content of it:
