Problems getting informations from agents
Hello!
So Ive installed the management driver, the snmp settings are done, and the management homepage and agents are also installed.
The problem is that i cant get any information from the hardware agent, when looking over the system in the insight manager I can see it, but when i click it for more information all that i get is that it is answereing from ping. How come I cant see the hardware agent? Does anyone know what I have done wrong?

Re: Problems getting informations from agents
If this is SIM 5.0, you may want to check the Global Settings. When I installed SIM 5.0, it asked me for the snmp community read string, for which I put in the proper string. It never asked me for the write string. I had to go into Options/Protocal Settings/Global Settings and add my snmp write string. I believe it had "public" in there by default.

Re: Problems getting informations from agents
Sounds like a SNMP problem. Have you checked the community names and configured the permitted IP addresses? I tied down all our servers so that SNMP messages are only accepted from the monitoring servers - all other requests are ignored. I may be wrong, but it sounds like your SIM server is being ignored..?
Good luck,
Sam

Re: Problems getting informations from agents
Hi!
You may also want to try removing and re-discovering the managed hosts. If your SNMP settings were incorrect when the hosts were initially discovered HPSIM will believe that there is no way to connect these hosts and not even try. Re-discovering them adds SNMP to the list of managed protocols.
