Queries from Orange...
I have tried obtaining the information from the system book and web site but the technical information available is fairly limited with regards to underlying functionalities. Our queries are as follows...
We have noticed that the database table structure included within HP-SIM 4.1 appears to have 'HP-UX' tables referring to 'CIM' tables. Do you know if this is a result of merging together two previous products or whether the CIM tables refer only to windows based systems and the HP-UX tables to HP-UX systems only?
Is the 'NodeID' in the various tables referring to the identity of the node (i.e. server) that the discovered component is associated to? And is this Node ID unique i.e. constant to that particular server? E.g. Will HP-SIM assign the same node id to specific servers and keep that same id for that server throughout further discoveries?
We are assuming that the "Snapshot ID" field is used to record historical information for time related comparisons. Do you know if this field holds a date/time stamp to enable previous configuration to be investigated/rolled back to? Do you know how long this historical data is kept?
Does HP-SIM have the ability to check the status of it's own agents? And if so, is it capable of re-starting them automatically? Does it also have the ability to verify the integrity of information collected via the agents?
I appreciate that there are a lot of questions here but any infomation will be greatly appreciated..many thanks.
