Request for HP SIM Programmers

I thought I would start a thread on things we'd like to see on the next version of HP SIM. As for me, I think HP SIM needs two things: First, an applet right within the HP SIM browser that allows seamless download, compile and registartion of MIBs for major manufacturers of network switches, UPS's, routers. Second, it would be great if it would read perf MIBs from HP and non-HP systems and thus, give graphical view. I know, it's asking a lot, but as long as we're daydreaming...

Just thought of another must-have for next version of HP SIM. I'd be great if we could temporarily disable certain types for Event notifications. For example, if one of our large offices in another state will be upgrading their servers and/or switches, we should be able to temporarily disable notifications for those specific IP devices w/o having to stop monitoring devices in other offices. I wouldn't mind getting the email alerts, but the frequent pager alerts at odd hours can be quite upsetting. What do others think about this request?

It could be tied to a request a number of us have suggested, namely being able to use System Lists as the basis for Notifications.

So, you'd set up your new System Lists for whatever suited your site and then set up Notifications based on the new Systems List.

To meet your requirement you'd change the Time Filter for the Alerts for a specific System List.
The way I deal with it now is to pass Alerts through a perl script that reads a file of Excluded Servers before e-mailing etc. I just have to add any Servers being maintained to a text file.

Good suggestions! I wholeheartedly agree about the alerts based on System Lists. Now about the temporary disabling of alerts, there's only one problem. My knowledge of perl scripting is nil. Have you implemented the script you refer to already into HP SIM? If so, I would appreciate if you could forward it to me. Thanks again!

Am I the only one who'd like add a column in the server table view so that you can either see what device (such as "Fault Tolerant Team" or "Multiple failures") was causing the alert status or even to have the ability to add a comment to the system status (that is viewable as a column), like you can do for events?
