RH - get hardware events with SSH protocol only?

Do Red Hat systems need SNMP installed to receive hardware event notifications or is SSH good enough for this?

Re: RH - get hardware events with SSH protocol only?

The ProLiant Management Agents require SNMP to function and to signal an event to a management station such as HP SIM. SSH can't be used for this; while it specifies an end-to-end connection protocol it does not specify anything for transferring messages.

I think he tried to ask, if it's possible to monitor servers in "agentless" way. There are many cases where 3rd. party softwares are not allowed in the system.
