RRD graphs and SNMP polling

Coming back to SIM after a while. The big holes last time were lack of polling and graphing of critical resources. Has anybody done anything in this area with the newer tools? Basically I am thinking about how to merge something like Cacti into SIM so that is best of both worlds.
