Server Status Changed Event

I am not getting an status changed event when a server status goes Major or Minor. I do get events when the server goes Critical and back to Normal.

And yes I have the boxes checked under Options-Events-Status Change Event Settings :-)

Re: Server Status Changed Event

Oddly it seems like you have "Event Filtering" turned on.

Event->Event Filter Settings

Nope not filtering anything. I even set it to Accept unregistered events to see if that would help.

Re: Server Status Changed Event

How are you triggering a Major and Minor events for your testing?

Do you get informational traps?

If you go to Control Panel, select the HP Management Agent tool, select SNMP Settings tab, click Send Test Trap; do you get the trap message? If NO - then your SNMP service does not have a trap destination.

Re: Server Status Changed Event

I'm triggering the status change by pulling power on a power supply (Major), and pulling a drive out of an array (Minor).
The trap destination info shouldn't have any effect on the status change event, I did set up the trap destination and the test trap goes through. We are getting the failure events, but still no status change events.

Re: Server Status Changed Event

Strange.

When I remove my trap destination from SNMP and pull a drive SIM shows no event changes. When I place a trap destination in the SNMP and pull a drive I get a notification in SIM.

Re: Server Status Changed Event

But is it a System Status Change event type or the Physical/Logical Drive status change?
With IM7 when HW status changed on a system the IM server would generate a Device Status Changed event without needing a trap sent from the managed system. We preferred just having this event created, so we would only get the one event for an issue instead of the multiple events sent from the managed system. Now I thought SIM was doing this too when I first installed, but I've screwed around with it so much testing maybe I turned it off somewhere. I'm not to worried about it now. But if it still doesn't work after I install 4.1 then I'll have to worry :-)

Re: Server Status Changed Event

It looks as though the rather generic Event that flags a Device Status change has gone.
Instead you get the System is UnReachable and System is Reachable Events in the case of a Server reboot.
