Reset critical disk usage threshold at(percent): ??

Re: Setting up Disk Thresholds

Hi Orven,

these are the settings we use, as recommended by an HP technician.

Critical = 90
Reset critical = 85
Warning = 80
Reset warning = 75
Polling interval = 120 seconds

As these are percentages, I would decrease these values if you use smaller capacity disks.

To clarify: Warning should be lower than Critical. Think of Warning as an amber/yellow alert. Critical is red alert.

If you have a nearly full disk (and a Critical alert) then you delete some files, the Reset Critical value specifies at what percentage free space the severity will be downgraded back to Warning.

Don't forget the 3% rule. I have, otherwise I would explain it now. Search for Disk Thresholds in the Help > SIM User Guide.

Re: Setting up Disk Thresholds

If you set disk thresholds individually on the system management homepage by moving the yellow (warning) and red (critical)sliders (file system space used), you will notice you can't get them closer than 3 %.
Ignore the "reset" value. As far as I know, this feature is long time planned but not functional yet.
The reset value seems to be meant to get the status of a system from critical back to normal - as it does when it's reachable by ping again. But unfortunately the snmp trap "my disk is too full" doesn't change the status of the system in HPSIM. If you ignore the trap you will get no further notice.
