SIM 4.2 SP2 Installation Error - Database initialization failed

I am installing a new copy of HP SIM 4.2 SP2 on a machine running Windows 2003 SP1.

I get the error "Database initialization failed".
I have tried this with both default MSDE as well as SQL 2000 Standard. Both database engines were installed and working. (Removed SQL, SIM and rebooted between different attempts)

Any ideas?

I also live same situation. I try to test on another server but result is same.

is there anybody lived this kind of problem?

Log on as the local Administrator and give that a shot.

Had similar problems on installing sim. When uninstalling msde it leaves few database files on its installation folder that prevent database access. Removing manually msde installation folder after uninstall and re-installing corrected problems for me.
