SIM 5.0 and SMI-S (EVA) Not Working
* HP EVA 5000 (3020)
* Command View EVA 4.0
* SMI-S Provider 4.01
* SIM 5.0
I installed the SMI-S providor (4.01) on to the SAN Management Appliance that is running Command View EVA 4.1.
I verified that at least one of the WBEM accounts (Global Protocal Settings) is a local admin on the SAN Appliance. Just to be safe I added the local adminsitrator account that logs into Command View EVA itself.
Then I deleted and re-discovered the deivce in SIM. Have done this many times with many permuation. Each time SIM fails to discover any Storage Resources or Storage Arrays.
What are we missing? following the steps from the online help (below).
thanks!
[from online help].....
Verify that the storage system has an installed and configured SMI-S provider. Refer to the HP Systems Insight Manager Installation and User Guide for more information about obtaining and installing SMI-S providers.
Enter the user name and password for the SMI CIMOM in the Default WBEM settings section on the Protocols - Setting Global Protocols page.
Add each SMI CIMOM IP address to the System Automatic Discovery task, or create a new discovery task. Refer to Configuring Automatic Discovery - Editing a Discovery Task and Configuring Automatic Discovery - Creating a New Discovery Task for instructions.
Your storage systems will be discovered after the next automatic discovery task. If you want to discover your storage systems immediately, run the discovery task. Refer to Configuring Automatic Discovery - Running a Discovery Task for instructions.

Re: SIM 5.0 and SMI-S (EVA) Not Working
where did you find that info?
I spent a lot of time troubleshooting SIM 5.0/SMI-S 4.01 and searching for related documents.
I did not find anything stating that storage management is not possible at the time being (or why not).
Regards,
Ole

Re: SIM 5.0 and SMI-S (EVA) Not Working
port , Username, PWD, PWD
5989 , administrator,
The password is the WBEM password you've set on the server.
Kind regards,
Erwin van Londen

Re: SIM 5.0 and SMI-S (EVA) Not Working
Where do you set the WBEM password on the server? I am trying to do the same thing on our Storage Management Appliance and the SIM server does not see any of the EVA storage arrays.
