SIM 5 Email Notification

My question is in regards to using the SIM email notification via a SMTP Smart Host. Can SIM 5 use a Smart Host as a SMTP relay for its email notification. I have already tested the relay aspect with Telnet, but I dont know for sure if SIM will work, or do you need a true Exchange account for it to work.

You don't need Exchange (MAPI) account,
HP SIM can work with any SMTP server
