SIM 5 Not detecting OS properly

Hi again,

I dropped the old version and downloaded the newest one, and I'm having a couple problems I believe all related to the OS in the System Properties not populating...

Problem 1 - VC isn't working right, sometimes gives "No, not WINNT" error, sometimes it gets through the downloading then gives an error that the OS does not match

Problem 2 - Performance Monitor, my server (Proliant 3000 Win2kSP4) doesn't show up.

Now, I read the Performance Monitor troubleshooting steps and it says to modify the system properties and change OS version to 5.0 (for Windows 200) and then I started getting the "No, not WINNT" error constantly in the VC...

Any help would be great appreciated!

Thanks,

-Corey

Re: SIM 5 Not detecting OS properly

Little more info:

When I do an identify on the server stout and stderr (I think they are) are both blank, it states it completed, no error..

However, it is still listing it just as a "Server" and "unconfigured HP System" with no further details...

So, somewhere it's not pulling the system info and this may be my problem...

I checked the SNMP and the string I'm using has "READ CREATE" rights, highest I could give it, so that isn't the issue..

This is driving me nust!!! :)

Thanks!

Re: SIM 5 Not detecting OS properly

Another update..

I'm getting closer, I have the VC/VCA working, I changed the SNMP String to "READ WRITE" instead of read create...

The system still isn't showing up in the Performance Monitor admin/license screen, however...

any ideas?

Re: SIM 5 Not detecting OS properly

I have seen the issue in a few installations I have done. I believe that if SIM cannot pull all the info (hardware and software) then PMP wont run as it should. This is mainly the case I believe for hardware. As PMP functionality does not support all server types.
What I have tried is to edit system properties for those servers that dont show full information through link under TOOLS & LINKS -> EDIT SYSTEM PROPERTIES.
