SIM 6.3: Disk Threshold

Hi

I want setup the Disk Threshold for Windows (Server 2003/2008) and Novell Suse server, I installed HP SIM 6.3 and I don’t know from where I have to restart, I need urgently to monitor the disk spaces for our environment.

I went to Configure > Disk Thresholds > Set Disk Thresholds page and it has 4 fields and I am not sure the best way to setup, basically I need to be able to receive an email when 20 % is left and I want get warren when 30 % disk space left, the resting parts bit confuse.

In order to be able to setup the disk thresholds what do I need to install on the sever that I am monitoring the disk space, thanks.

Re: SIM 6.3: Disk Threshold

To set the disk thresholds to the appropriate levels, see the attached screenshot_001. The management agents on the box will generate a SNMP trap when 80% of the disk is used i.e... 20% free space left. This critical state will be reset when the free space rises to 25%. The warning will fire at 30% and will be reset at 35%. In order to send an email alert form SIM, you need to set an event handler to either mail upon receiving major and critical events or set it up to mail when it receives those specific traps.

Re: SIM 6.3: Disk Threshold

Something that got me was that I only had read only community set.  Have to have read/write snmp setup.  This is  how the threshold is set.

Re: SIM 6.3: Disk Threshold

pgar is quite correct. If using the snmp agents, they communicate using snmp so you need at a minimum to have one snmp community string that is read/write and allow localhost to use it in order to set the disk thresholds locally. If you want to set them from the cms then you need to allow it access to the read/write string also ;)
