SIM 7 and it's capabilities...
Does SIM 7 have the ability to page my team when a disk reaches 90% used, or a network link is dropped, or CPU utilization has been 100% for x minutes, etc? If so, can someone point me in the right direction as far as what I need to configure and where or maybe some online resources?
The reason I am asking is simple. In my previous job, we ran CIM v4 and it did all these things out of the box (hard drive failure, so on). Recently I tried CIM 7.2 and I don't get paged on the things like link/disk/CPU etc. I ONLY get paged when the system is no longer able to poll it.
I'm sure that I am missing something...?
Thanks

Re: SIM 7 and it's capabilities...
Greetings. Well there a few good things that you can do to help ensure that you setup not only the IM7 server but your managed nodes as well.
1.) IM7 can page and send email depending on what you want it to do. Paging is setup on the TASKS tab and then at the bottom for Notification Tasks... Start off just having it page/email for critical devices or major... When you feel comfortable you can create EVENT QUERIES based on what exactly you want it to be defined as you personal CRITICAL, MAJOR, etc ie. Disk Space, UP/DOWN, Reboots, Disk Failures, NIC errors etc. then create a new "Notification Task" based on the newly defind Event Query and set it for When it meets query criteria etc...
2.) Ensure that you have configured you managed nodes to inlcude you IM7 system within the trap destination, including the localhost server as well (127.0.0.1) and ensure that security of snmp is set correctly and for READ/WRITE.
3.) Configurure your managed systems with HP Management Agents (in control panel) and ensure that your Active Agents are correct.
4.) you can also configure the HP Management Agents - Event Notifier Config to send out mail messages as well... as well as selected events. This is a redundant option that we use just to make sure that we are getting the events...
Ensure and configure the Version Control Repository Manager and Agents.
Hope this helps...
