SIM & Thermometer !
Hi all!
I "work" not very long whit SIM (1 week) (and unfortunately neither with English :( ).
My boss want SIM to the snmp based network monitoring system.
We have a dozen servers, and we will measure the room's temperature. Have an ethernet thermometer whit the necessary .mib, SIM 5 sp5.
I installed SIM, registered the MIB, added to system types, i can read the SNMP value (once when i added to the system types, from the OID).
But in the "SNMP Trap Settings" i can nothig modify.
My (first) task is: when the thermometer reach x.y°C, then the SIM send an email to x.y@mycompany.com.
I can send emails whit SIM (from another events), i need the "setting" or anything that tells to the SIM, that the thermometer reached the limit.
And how can i watch the present values? (The "data collection report" tells nothing from the device specific values)
Sorry that my question is so "simple" i work just 1 week whit SIM and SNMP.
Thanks for any ansvers.

Re: SIM & Thermometer !
The thresholds for thermal are set in the system BIOS itself, based on individual profiles for each model. There is no "universal" number that you can use to react to, since each model is different. Also keep in mind that depending on the model of server, there is between 2 and 8 separate temperature sensors, all with different readings, different caution thresholds and different warning thresholds.

Re: SIM & Thermometer !
Thanks David,
But unfortunately we want watch the temp whit a separated device.
My question is that: SIM can handle this non HP, simple SNMP based thermometer? When I install the necessery MIB's to SIM.
By "handle" I mean that, SIM can read the actual values from the device.
We I previously write, I installed the MIB, and added to the "System Types", i can see the Thermometer in the "Sytems".
Can I modify the "Data Collection Report"'s settings to see the Thermometer specific settings? In "Systm Types" are the good specific values for the thermometer, this values can not give to the "Data Collection Report"?
I know another solution for this problem, but it would better when the SIM handles majority of the SNMP devices.
