Hello,
I tried to link SIM and Tivoli Entreprise Console. However Insight Integration for the Tivoli Enterprise Console is in version 2.0 and do not support Insight Management Agents upper than 6.40, althoug most of my agents are in 7.00 and 7.10 version.
Does anybody know how to make undestand by Tivoli all the traps send by 7.00 and 7.10 Agents?
Is a newer version of Insight Integration for the Tivoli Enterprise Console envisaged?
Thanks for help

Re: SIM and Tivoli
Where are the HP boys?
I just want to know if HP planned to update Insight Integration for Tivoli Enterprise Console in order to support Agents 7.00 and 7.10?
No ideas?

Solution
Hey, some of us just got back from vacation! :)
Agents (more specifically the ProLiant Support Pack) come out approximately 3-4 times each year. The primary reason the PSP is revised is to support new hardware introductions. Sometimes the agents contain events to support new hardware capabilities (such as when Advanced Memory Protection was introduced).
The integration modules are typically revised once a year, so it is typical that agent versions can get ahead of it. However, what does that mean? All of the really important things like disk failures, fan failures, etc, have long been documented and stay the same. Using a 7.0 or 7.1 agent on a piece of hardware that previously supported the 6.4 agents will never throw an event that the Tivoli integration doesn't understand. Even the events it doesn't know about are likely to be esoteric ones. If one of the new events is received, it won't be translated into a plain English message, but that will be your cue to examine the agent on the device to see what the problem is.
Long story short: not much to worry about. Expect a Tivoli integration update sometime early next year. In the meantime, continue to use the existing integration because it handles the majority of what you might possibly see.

Re: SIM and Tivoli
Thanks for answer!
You said that all of the really important things like disk failures, fan failures, etc, have long been documented and stay the same.
But I've read that mibs for Insight Manager 7 must be update in order to understand all new traps that can be send by new agents.( see http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/19885.html ).So mibs change.
I tested a disk failure event (unplug the disk from the server). With agents 7.00, the trap send is "Logical Drive Status Change", with a parameter equals to the status of the disk.
This trap doesn't exist in Tivoli Integration, indeed there is one trap per disk status ( ie Logical Drive Status Failed...) with this product version.
So events change due to the mibs evolutions.
I just have to wait for next year! :)
