SIM: checking HTTP server status

Hi everybody,
after rebooting our Windows SIM server, the application doesn't start, it shows this message: "checking HTTP server status" but never ends.
It seems to be a problem with Java.
Can anyone please help me?
Thanks and regards.

Re: SIM: checking HTTP server status

Can you check to see if your SIM service started?

Re: SIM: checking HTTP server status

Yes, it has started. We have restarted it and it doesn't work.

Re: SIM: checking HTTP server status

Can you connect the SIM site externally, not from the management server itself? Does it load that way?

For example if your SIM server is called "mysim.mydomain.com", you would, from another workstation, connect to:

https://mysim.mydomain.com:50000

Re: SIM: checking HTTP server status

Thanks for the answers but it doesn´t solve the problem.
I've checked the SNMP settings, the internet browser settings, etc. and nothing changes.
I attache a log file that we obtain when we execute C:/Program Files/HP/Systems Insight Manager/sim.bat
In this file there are several error messages, how can I continue this troubleshooting?
Thanks and regards.

Re: SIM: checking HTTP server status

hi all,
if u want to open the sim console, first u see that sim console port 50000 is open or not by netstat -a at the command prompt.
if this port is not opened, then u will have to open the port behind the firewall.

then u check all the sim services from the services.msc, and all services should be started.

I hope it may help u to resolve this issue.

Points are welcome.

Re: SIM: checking HTTP server status

The required ports are open. The reason of the problem must be different because one week ago it works perfectly.

Re: SIM: checking HTTP server status

Hi,

your log says:

Port already in use: 50008
Port already in use: 50014

Stop SIM, check out which application is on these ports, stop the app and then start sim again.

Re: SIM: checking HTTP server status

Thanks but still shows the message "Checking HTTP serve status".
What else can I do?

Re: SIM: checking HTTP server status

No answer here, just a similar experience. When restarting the server: First time I started SIM, the "Checking Status" came up, began incrementing. After 5 or so minutes of this I gave up, restarted the server again. Then I started SIM, the "Checking status" came up, did not increment the time; but after 2 or three minutes the Checking went away and SIM started up. Once I'm past that I can shut SIM down, start it up again, no trouble. Seems to be just on system restart. SIM 5.2, a new server, so I have no past experience to compare.

Re: SIM: checking HTTP server status

I had the same problem, and what it ended up being was the database was corrupted. I had to restore the database from a previous backup and that resolved my issue. I had the exact same problem. Looked like it was a Java issue, but it really wasn't. Database was online, but hosed. Hopefully, that helps.

Re: SIM: checking HTTP server status

Thank you very much but I have two new questions:
- when it tris to start it says "databases not corrupted".
- if the database is corrupted and we don't have a backup... do I have to configure everything again or reinstalling is enough?
Thanks.

Re: SIM: checking HTTP server status

This generally happens due to a password change in the account that SIM uses to run, in order to solve it, make sure that the account that the Systems Insight Manager service is still active, and re-type the password for it. Also run mxpassword -g from a command prompt, click modify on the window that pops up, and then re-type the password for the account for all the options you get on the box. After this, restart the SIM service and it will probably work.
