SIM Database table question on discovery date

I am creating a view that uses the devices table of the SIM 5.2 database. In that table is the "Discovered" date field which contains a serial number defined as a biginit. In the previous CIM7 database it was defined as a datetime field. The problem I am having is converting the serial number to a readable date such as 12/03/2008 and time of discovery. Has anyone attempted to convert this serial number, which I believe might be based on the miliseconds passed from a start time?
