SIM E-Mail Notification fails on Windows 2003
I have recently moved HP SIM 4.1 from a Windows 2000 box to Windows 2003. Have installed and applied SP1 all ok.
The only thing that doesn't work is E-Mail notifications. If I check the notify task it shows the following error:
Sending failed; javax.mail.MessagingException: Could not connect to SMTP host: mailserver.domain, port: 25; java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort: connect
I suspect this is something to do with the security spec in Windows 2003 but I haven't been able to find the solution.
Much appreciated if someone can help! I need my servers to talk to me again!

Re: SIM E-Mail Notification fails on Windows 2003
Try just using telnet to try and initiate a connection from the new W2003 Server to your SMTP Server but specifiy Port 25. You should bea able to initiate an SMTP connection. If not that's the root cause of the problem.
I've got HPSIM on a W2003 Box and I don't believe I had to configure anything special.
Maybe the SMTP Server only accepts connections from specific servers and you need to add the new HPSIM Server?

Re: SIM E-Mail Notification fails on Windows 2003
Cheers for the input. I already tried telnet with no luck, connection failed. After posting this thread though I got back onto it with the back to basics approach and found that the access controls in the latest VirusScan blocks port 25. Disabled that and all is well.

All changed after amending VirusScan config.
