SIM integration with OVSAM
I am attempting to simplify the management of our SAN infrastructure by integrating OVSAM and SIM.
We are using OVSAM v3.1 and HP SIM.
However, I have been unable to find the OVSAM Smart Plug-ins referred to on the SIM site(http://h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/hpsim/plugin-apps.html), or in fact any documentation on how to integrate the two products.
If anybody knows where i can find these files or this doucmentation it would be appreciated.
Has anybody actually used SIM to manage/monitor an installation of OVSAM?? If so, any information/tips would also be appreciated.
Thankyou.
Luke McMichael.

Re: SIM integration with OVSAM
I've not used OVSAM. Most of the plug-ins just mean that you can fire up the appropriate browser from HPSIM.
Without OVSAM, you can configire things so that you get disk failure events etc. from the SAN infrastructure reported to HPSIM.
But, there should also be a way of setting up SNMP on OVSAM to forward any traps to IM.
Also, if you use Secure Path, you may want to look at where the Notification Utility is sending traps.
You might want to plan where you want messages from, I tend to get quite a few messages if a disk fails as I've a number of things watching the storage system. Better too few than none.

Re: SIM integration with OVSAM
Thanks Rob, but i have just learned that the plug-in i was after is not available with SIM release 1. It looks like this will be made available in later release of the product.
Thanks for the other useful info though.
Luke.
