SIM Proactive failure analysis

How can I set up proactive failure analysis on a ESX host. Is this possible.

Hi

Can you explain a bit more ?

Are you talking about prefailure warranty alerts ?

Re: SIM Proactive failure analysis

With HP hardware with the HP Agents installed that's what happens. The agents monitor the hardware and will advise if any pre-failure conditions are detected.
You need to install the Proliant Support Pack suitable for your hardware. You need to configure SNMP to send traps to HPSIM.

Yes fred prefailure warranty alerts. But I think rob hit on it well. Can you add to Rob commments or just running th PSP and configuring SNMP traps would work. do I have to do any addtional config in SIM or RSP. I have one issue ESX doesn't have a PSP.

Re: SIM Proactive failure analysis

A PSP is available for ESX. Go to HP.COM, select Softwe & Drivers, enter the HP Model number and then go from there.
It's not available for ESXi - for that you need the HP ESXi Bundle and it uses wbem, not SNMP.
