SIM4.1 & TopTools
I have recently taken over the IT department and we run a mixture of HP & Compaq servers. One of the first things I did was install HP SIM.
The Compaq and new HP Proliant servers picked up straight away. I installed TopTools on the HP Netservers and, althought they are listed, the agents don't report any alerts on the system.
If I look in TopTools on the servers themselves, then the status (Red, Yellow etc) can be seen. Consequently when a disk died yesterday, I didn't realise until I spotted the red light on the disk itslef.
Can anyone shed some light on this problem please.

Re: SIM4.1 & TopTools
You could probably benefit from the whitepaper "Guide to interoperability of HP hardware and hardware management tools: HP Toptools 5.6 with ProLiant servers and Insight Manager 7 with HP Netservers - White Paper, March 2003" Although it has not been updated for hpSIM, it all applies except hpSMI includes the MIBs now and you don't have to compile them.
More than likely, you need to configure your hpSIM server in the SNMP Trap Destinations settings on the SNMP service. This is required to get the message back to hpSIM.
Find the whitepaper at http://www.hp.com/servers/proliant --> ISS Technology Papers --> Advanced Technology -> Systems Management
