SIM5sp5 SMP
No, SMP Agent is not running on the system
Then I tried to install SMP agent, which resulted with error:
No, is not WINNT version greater than or equal to 4.0 : wrong Operating System Name.
even though the server is w2k3.
If I try to install openssh the same manner, I will get the same error message.

Re: SIM5sp5 SMP
If not you may need to enabled WBEM and enable the correct identification of the server and OS.

Valid hosts are not available.

Re: SIM5sp5 SMP
Have you installed SNMP on the IBM server and configured the settings for the SIM server to communicate with the IBM server?

Re: SIM5sp5 SMP
The OS on the physical server will need to be recognised and show up in HPSIM.
As Neal has said, SNMP can give this information if configured correctly. The SMH probably wont, but I've not tried it so can't be sure.

Re: SIM5sp5 SMP
System Type Unknown
Hardware Description Hardware: x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 6 AT/AT COMPATIBLE - Software: Windows Version 5.2 (Build 3790 Uniprocessor Free)
Management Protocols HTTP:, SMH:2.0, SNMP:1.0
But in the P2V stage, the OS type is blank.
Any ideas about this?

Re: SIM5sp5 SMP
It should not matter for this server being in a different AD domain than the SIM server. My setup recognizes all Proliant servers in workgroups, out of the box. In order to recognize the IBM as an IBM, you will need to add & compile the MIBs for that particular model of server to be recognized and managed by SIM.
Make sure you have enabled the WBEM protocol for this server, and put in the credentials as a user that has permissions on this server from the other domain. This may help SIM enable the server for the P2V process.

Re: SIM5sp5 SMP
Check under Options->Settings->Global Protocol settings: and ensure you've entered usernames and passwords for the WBEM protocol. These need to be at least members of the local admins on those targets.
After that, run Identify Systems under Options.
WBEM talks thru WMI (Windows' implementation of WBEM.)
To see what protocols are being recognized by SIM, click on the System Name link and expand Properties and have a look at "Management Protocols"
