SNMP Communities

We are using SNMP community names other than private or public for most of our servers. The older servers that are still using public show up as servers in SIM but the non public communities show as unmanaged. I have updated the protocol settings with our names and still no luck. Is there something else I have to do?

Re: SNMP Communities

have you tried to identify the systems again?
Options->Discovery->Identify Systems

Make sure you have added the additional community names in Options->Protocol Settings->Global Protocol Settings

Re: SNMP Communities

Larry,
We've removed public and private here. So it works, they just need to be entered in at both ends.
Note community names are case-sensitive and also on W2003 Servers the default changed from Allow All Hosts to Allow Selected Hosts in the SNMP Settings at the client end. So you need to enter the IP Address or name of your SIM Server into the SNMP Settings
