System Insight Manager Version Control Repository account

Hello all,

I have installed SIM 5.2 and configured VCRM and VCA on several machines.

We are adding a new group of servers with a different group of administrators.

I want to setup access to the Repository for the VCA on the new machines using a generic account.

I have created a local Windows account on the SIM and VCRM server which is part of the Windows Power User group.

I have not been able to determine what tools and authorizations I need to setup in SIM.

Can anyone provide info, or a document?

Much appreciated.

Re: System Insight Manager Version Control Repository account

It doesn't use any of the HPSIM Users for the VCA / VCRM access.
We use a local account on the VCRM Server itself for access. That account is not in HPSIM.
You can use Domain Accounts, but again it doesn't need to be in HPSIM.

Re: System Insight Manager Version Control Repository account

Rob,

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I have now created both a local account and a domain account and added both of them to the Power Users group on the VCRM machine. I also granted both accounts Full Control to the Repository directory on the VCRM machine. I am still unable to change the VCA agent settings to login to the VCRM using either of these accounts.

Am I missing something?

Does the account have to be an admin on either the VCRM machine or the machine where I am configuring the VCA agent?

Thanks again,

Brent

Re: System Insight Manager Version Control Repository account

We are also set up the way Rob explained.
We created one local user account on the VCRM server, and made it a local administrator. You do not need to create the user on each server with a VCA, ONLY on the VCRM server. After doing this you should be able to configure your various VCA's.

Re: System Insight Manager Version Control Repository account

Thank you both very much!

Making the account a local admin on the VCRM machine did the trick.
