VCA password

VCA password

I have managed to discover al my servers in the network, but they dont seem to be transmitting back any information to my SIM 4.2server. I have checked and all of them have the agents required. I guess it is because my agent settings are not correct. When I do try to connect trhough the SIM software to a severs agent page settings, a password page comes up. Now what password is this page asking for? Cause if I type in the Administrator password assigned for my SIM server I dont seem to be getting in.

Re: VCA password

The agents shoould have SNMP trap destination if you want them to send errors (and you're using SNMP)

If you're using pre-7.30 agents they use a local password unique per server, if you're using 7.30 or 7.40 the agents will use your windows-account (don't know how Unix/Linux works).

For trust from SIM server to agents you need to make sure the sim server is in the list of trusted hosts, either by name or by certificate.

Re: VCA password

The VCA will connect to the VCRM using the password for the account you set up VCRM to use, I think this was supposed to be a server-local account with administrative privileges.

Re: VCA password

Thnx for ur reply Mikael, Im using 7.1 agents on WIN 2003, and yes I also have SNMP enabled but with default settings. Forgive me but SNMP is a bit new to me, I know what it does as a protocol but not much about its settings. I have managed to pick up information via this forum which has been helpful.
I have tried using my local Administrator password to login to the VCA but it has failed. But when I used the Operator account with no password funny enough I managed to login. I then tried to set my VCA to direct to my SIM server but it does not find the server. WHat password do I enter here, the one configured for my SIM server? I also have tried creating a trust cert but it is not successful.

Have you tried looking at this document to see if it has any information that may be of use?

It may help you get your userid's setup.
