VCRM Automatic Updates

I want to enable automatic updates, but always get "Error: unable to connect." when I click Finish. I've seen another thread here that said this was a proxy issue, but we don't have a proxy server, so I've left the Set Proxy Server box empty. Is this right?

Yes, if you don't have a proxy server you can leave the box empty. Have you checked the VCRM log on what errors it produces?
Maybe the firewall is blocking outgoing ftp connections as the VCRM updating is done via FTP.
