VCRM over WAN

VCRM over WAN

Hi There
Does anyone else have issues connecting to a VCRM that is on another network.

I want to use a central VCRM and all my VCA's connect using an IP Address. All networks are link via a VPN

Re: VCRM over WAN

I run a similar setup and have no problems at all.

However, I can see the VCRM from the remote machines, but I would never attempt to push the actual updates over the WAN. I have very small pipes between our remote offices and it would surely saturate the bandwidth completely.

Re: VCRM over WAN

Does it require specific ports as i cant get the VCA to communicate with the VCRM

Re: VCRM over WAN

One thing that can be done is to install a VCRM at each location and have just the VCAs of those machines use it as a reference. You still will be able to manage it from a single instance of HP SIM, but when you create the update task the machines will get it from the local VCRM.

Excelent news thanks.

What are the system specs for VCRM. and does it use a lot of memory?

According to the release notes at http://h200007.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00210168/c00210168.pdf , you need 256MB of RAM for Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP, or 128MB of Windows 2000.
