Version control agent & agent passwords
Our clients are all over the place and real mess but this is one of my tasks, problem is on a lot (majority) of the servers for the version control agent it won't log onto the new server, under options on the VCA you type in the server, login user and password, it goes through the motions then in the install log says "Unable to login to server X. The login account or password is invalid", I've looked on the Insight server but can't find where I set this, I'm using the administrator login/password aswell, where can i set this password so it works?

Re: Version control agent & agent passwords
Where do you set the username/password for the VCA on the server so the clients can log into it.

Re: Version control agent & agent passwords
User and password for VCA must be set on particular agent. Log to server homepage, on left side click Version Control Agent, whent display click agent settings.

Re: Version control agent & agent passwords
you can configure the passwords of the agents in the support pack. you have on the left side the configurable agents, right mouse button, set the password and don't forget to check the cross " overwirte settings".
hope this will help you.
best regards christian

Re: Version control agent & agent passwords
I know where to set this on the client, it's easy you open the web page for the VCA, choose options, you then set the machine name, login user & password. after trying to set this to the server SIM is running on with administrator and the same password I use to log into the SIM server it says
"The new configuration was stored successfully but there was an error retrieving data from the Version Control Repository Manager using the saved settings."
When you check in the log it says
"Unable to login to SIM server. The login account or password is invalid"
If it's the same account/password as the main SIM logon why isn't it working, theres another message on here along the similar lines http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=609159 Is it a known bug?

Re: Version control agent & agent passwords
OK
Position the cursor over the SW Status column on one server where you have a problem. A tool tip appears and displays a hint indicating what is.
Are you have established Trust Relationship?

Re: Version control agent & agent passwords
At the bottom tóf the settings tab there are the http settings, choose options. In options check that you have for example trust by name, and then enter the FQDN name of the SIM server. There's the option to use certificates instead, though I've never tried that one.
This should allow the node and the SIM server to communicate.
In addition, go to the version control agent webpage, and look under the "change agent settings" menu, there you can specify server and password and which support pack should be referenced.
All this can be pre-configured in the agent if you want to perform an unattended upgrade instead of manual reconfig.
Hope this will be of any hel
