Version Control Repository Manager and HP Support

So my VCRM started to stop unexpected (as per Event Viewer). Tried to upgrade to the latest version, same problem. Deinstalled, removed repository, reinstalled, let it download and it does the same.

Every time it restarts, it starts going through catalog validation and usual at the same spot, it crashes. Now it only writes to the log when it successfully checked an item, so I do not know what item it has problems on.

Trying HP support for the last 10 days has been completely useless trying to get through Level 1 support (or even Level 2). All I got to hear so far is "Your repository is too big".

Hello! I can not control how large the repository really is, my options to download are a few choices of Windows, RedHat EL and Novell SuSE (SuSE being unselected as we do not have any systems with it).

Does anyone know of extra command line switches or debug mode, which would maybe turn on more logging, for example to log when it starts a package, not just when it finished.

Under Linux I could easy use strace to monitor open file calls and figure it out that way, but under Windows, using Process Monitor, it slows so much down, it isn't usable.

Very very frustrated with HP level 1/2 support currently (not just for this issue).

What is the VCRM version & Windows version,

1) install VCRM in test environment.
2) point to a empty repository.
3) use "upload a support pack" to upload each support pack & check when it crash.
4) upload a screenshot of Crash Event message and VCRM log.

Re: Version Control Repository Manager and HP Support

I found the issue being an old (6+ year old) e1000 rpm where the automatic update wouldn't download the accompanying xml file. After I added it manual, VCRM stopped crashing.

HP really needs to add debug flags to VCRM process, which need to be documented. I wasted 10+ days with HP support on it, which was useless.
