Virtual Machine Management Pack
I have two servers running ESX 2.5.2 and I am running HP SIM 5.0 (latest version). I have installed the 7.40b management agents on the two ESX servers.
When I discover the ESX servers they show up in my system list however the product name, and OS name show up as blank and all of the VMs that are setup on the ESX servers appear as "Hosted on". I used snmpwalk to verify my SNMP configuration. I installed the VMM agent on the two ESX boxes. However, at this time my temporary license keys have expired and I haven't purchased any new licenses. Before I decide if we need to purchase licenses I have a couple of questions:
1) DoI purchase license keys for the VMM in order for SIM to correctly report product and OS information?
2) What else does the Virtual Machine Management Pack give me that I can't get from VMWare's Virtual Center?
Thanks.

Re: Virtual Machine Management Pack
Hi,
The OS name and other information not showing up correctly could be due to SNMP setting which is not right. Please follow the whitepaper from the following path
www.hp.com/go/vmmanage -> Select active Answer-Vmware from left hand side
You dont need the License keys to get the All systems page populated correctly for the VM host ie ESX box information however you would see the assciations and would be able to perform all the management functions only if you have the VMM licenses for the ESX box.
VMM allows management of heterogenos virtualization platforms like ESX, GSX and MSVS where as VC would allow only Vmware guests. Also VMM being part of SIM its single console which can help you with management of guest VM's as well as physical servers
