Vmware ESX 3.0.2
Hi
what do i have to do, to be able to see my ESX server in cim 5.1 sp1 as virtual machine host.
Actually, when i look for the server in cim , it show the good infos as ProLiant DL385 G1 Linux - VMware ESX Ser. It recognise the server but not enough to see it as virtual host.
Is someone can tell me the installation or step to do to make it work and be able to monitor the host ang guest machines
Sorry for my english
Marc

Re: Vmware ESX 3.0.2
It depends on what you're trying to do.
If you've installed the HP Agents for VMware on the host you'll get the hardware alerting.
If you want to see more of the virtual infrastructure you need to have Virtual Machine Management (VMM) Pack. That's a licensed (as in it costs) add-on to HPSIM.
The guests can be monitored in their own right, they can be discovered and data gathered via snmp or for windows guests wbem. There are no agents to install as they don't have any hardware.

Re: Vmware ESX 3.0.2
Hi Rob
Thank's for the answer, but to be sure i understand what you said. It means even if we already have the agents installed, CIM won't recognize those ESX machine as ESX host until i buy and install VMM pack.
I have an other questioin for you, sor for guests servers on the host, i have to configure the snmp and wbem (windows) and openwebem (linux) to know the status os those server.
Will i be notify if those guest goes wrong ex bad restart
